Gardening in the future

We live in a time that is very crucial to the survival of the planet. Climate change is a very big problem and we must do everything we can to try to reverse its effects. Luckily, as gardeners we are already at the forefront of the movement just by utilizing our passion. We are the people that enjoy the land so much that we are actually helping the earth replenish itself.

Plants provide food for a number of species and provide oxygen to everyone, which means that in the future, we should pay more attention to how we are gardening and making sure that the things we are doing are good for the environment. In essence gardening by itself isn’t enough. We must also look at how much water we are using and the methods for planting to make sure that we are not harming other parts of the ecosystem with what we are doing.

It’s a tough job

It is tough as a gardener to be expected to do even more for the environment isn’t it? We already plant the food that people eat and provide oxygen for every living thing in range of our garden, so why should we be the ones that pay attention to practices to make sure that in the future we still have a planet to live on? The answer is because we care. Check back here for tips on organic gardening and a growing guide on how to make your garden more efficient.

Clearing trees and making space for the new

During summer time I take the time to begin making new arrangement at our farm, this year we have several old overgrown oak trees in the yard so we have decided to trim them and cut some of the over grown branches. At first I took on this project myself with a manual saw, I thought not problem but then after few branches I realized this was going to take me several month to finish. Time I couldn’t afford to spend especially because I have many dwarf goats that need to get milked not to mention my garden is no where near where its suppose to be so there’s still a lot of prep work I have to do.

I decided to call a tree care company the owner whom I met several weeks ago at farmer’s market. He has an operation in several Oakland County cities, the main website on his business card was

Again this is why it pays to do business with somebody you know because he came out the very next day with crew of 3 and he finished the job for me real quick. While I sat back and did my gardening. i was blown away at how fast everything was finished and things got cleared away so there was no mess afterwards.

If you have never used tree service company before, after this experience I actually highly recommend it because they are so very quick to give clients with big time savings in money and time. I mean you should see much much faster their professional chainsaws cut through trees than my saw that I was using. It was cutting through the big branches like butter!

Speaking of which, few days ago I made some homemade butter and boy was it delicious. It makes a huge difference when you actually use grass-fed goat or cow milk to make the butter, it turns much more yellow in color and the taste is just marvelous.

We know that there is nutrients because you feel much better afterwards and I have read various articles stating that darker yellow represents higher vitamin content specifically vitamin A and K2.

Vitamin K2 is a new type of vitamin that was discovered and it has the ability to transport calcium into bones and teeth. I have found that there’s few things that’s required for strong bone and teeth. Vitamin D, A & K2. When these vitamins are present in our system, our bones seem to get stronger and even cavities can be reversed.

I am all about reaching the absolute best health and I sometimes will spend great deal of time in my research and money trying various projects and in all my studies I have found Vitamin K2 to be most interesting. More on this in upcoming blogs.

Great Attitude for Successful Farming

What does Farming teach us about life and relationship? More than you can image. When a farmer tills his soils in preparation for the seeds to take root and yield food. It really is a metaphor for our individual life as we also develop and mature overtime, going through many transitional phases of life where we put one foot after the other and we make sure that we are always on top of our game.

Because life is really about progress. it is about getting to the next stage in life where we become greater than our past, such as developing successful habits that lead to wealth and success. I refuse to go backwards in life. I refuse to become average. I will become a top produer. I must become wealthy so that I can help other people. I must become successful so that i can live at the highest level and produce massive amounts of value for other people. I will get haters along the way but I will also get admirers along the way.I must become that one reason why people will say wow that guy is a winner in life. I must overcome all the limitation and become the winner I was destined to become.

What is my potential? I am beginning to ask my self this question everyday now. You see everyone talks about how great their life will be and how they have goals and vision of something or someone, but until you have the vision to become the very best in this field, there will always be problems, so why not get big problems in stead

Some examples of massive problems.

Too many clients to serve

Making too much money

I will become extremely successful in life and business but I will never lose my soul along the way. I want to become successful because I want to prove to myself that everything is possible and I want others to see that I am someone that is known for work ethic and more.

As a farmer I think I always had a great work ethic, but my problem was I never thought big enough. I never though about expanding and becoming a big time operation.

So now I am refocusing my focus and going towards my dream of having the most ideal, biggest farm that makes amazing produce and raw milk for people. Sky is the limit

Spring Cleaning

Spring is upon us and for me it is time for long awaiting Spring cleaning at the garden, this has been 3 week process and we are finally finished. Ever since I was a kid I had to help my parents with Spring cleaning from morning to dawn for few weeks in every spring. I always hated doing it and would much rather work on the farm on my garden or playing with animals.

Fortunately even though I hated Spring cleaning, I gained the understanding of the importance of it from young because when this time of the year rolls around I very naturally get to work on Spring cleaning and this year its a much needed one.

This year I was determined to get rid of some of the “antiques” from the yard like below picture

although we really enjoy these sorts of things in the yard, some of it was just time to go. There is only so much Antiques you can hold on your lawn before you run out of space.

We had to hire a towing company to do the job for us, fortunately we knew a friend of ours that was willing to do it for very reasonable price. So that was great

While Spring cleaning the barn we found many old stuff that brought back a lot of nastalgic memories, and it was pretty fun process. Some were things I remember seeing when I was in grade school, it is pretty amazing those things never really leave your memory. Just holding the item seems to transport you back to those times as if you just entered a time machine.

As the spring cleaning proceeded we made big headway in the first week, using our hands and sheer hard work removing much of the unneeded misc from yard and taking care of brushing the barn clean.

In week two we took care of the big stuff, some we hauled using our tractor the other junk we had to use the towing company but the key thing was that we got it done and out of the yard, this made a big difference in our lawn and we are very happy we did it because this is something we’ve been putting off for many years and we finally did it! and It was so bad as we thought. The towing guys were of great help for us. They were great guys too, we made them some home made lemonade which they thoroughly enjoyed, and left them a fat tip for their troubles. Their company is called Southfield Towing, we met them when they came to one of the cheese making class we attended.

The third week was a mix of cleaning rest of the things up and re-arranging things so that we minimize making a mess down the road. Being organized is still a trait that I am trying to master, oh boy is it a challenging one for me. But I will just keep working at it and improve on it over time. So spring cleaning has been a success and we are so glad to finally get back to our favorite thing, tending the garden and working on the farm and cows

On another note…

Yes and the cows are enjoying the fresh green grass!! This means fresh new raw dairy products for you!

Why Raw Milk is Good for you

Hi my name is Carrol and I am a big proponent of Raw Dairy products.

Let me explain how I came to know about the power of raw milk. 10 years ago I was very sick and weakly, at the time I was diagnosed with Fibrmyologia which I do not wish any mortal being to ever go through.

Back then I didn’t have enough energy to even get out of bed. The whole body was ridden with aches and pains and I felt like my body was concrete, heavy and immovable. I went around in Wheel chairs to doctors after doctors that gave me powerful medication including morphine. These drugs gave me temporarily relief but with nasty intoxicated like side effects, I couldn’t think straight and i was in constant state of daze and haze, sometimes I couldn’t even remember where I was or who I was.

It was a scary time in my life and I had thoughts of ending it all. Just remember those times is too real and it makes me shudder in fear. I thought I was eating healthy, the standard American diet but I thought I was being healthy by eating the fruits and vegetables and cutting out all saturated fat.

In moments of desperation I tried all kinds of diet you can think of. From Raw Food, vegan to various fasts including 14 day water fasts. They all had effects on the body and the fasts seems to help but nothing would quite take out the pain and each time I did the fast I felt weaker and weaker, in hindsight my body was dieing from mal-nutrition.

Imagine that, in the 21st century living in the US,, where we are suppose to have access to the great food supply, technology and health care system and my body was dieing because of lack of nutrition. Something is seriously wrong with this picture.

Then one day, I was at the local farmer’s garden looking for fresh vegetables to make some vegetable juices out of, I over heard two farmers talking about raw dairy shares where they gave one of their friend raw milk and it cured her from her bed ridden state.

I stalked these two gentlemen down and demanded to tell me more. They basically told me that raw diary is illegal to sell in Michigan but they care give me milk shares where I sign a lease to own a goat or cow so it officially becomes mine and then I get to source raw milk from it.

They told me that the raw diary has every amino acid, healthy fats, probiotics and healthy immune system boosting bacteria that the body needs, and that it has the ability to cure various illness like candida and what do you know it Fibromyalgia

I first sip of raw dairy I still remember to this day, I felt relaxing sensation all through out the body like this was the thing my body was craving for. and week later the pain was greatly reduced. Fast forward 1-2 month later and I was walking again. I was gaining muscle mass without working out and I was returning to the body shape in my teens and early 20’s. The raw milk was rebuilding my entire body from ground up and I’m here today alive, joyful, and healthy as an ox to tell you that raw dairy is one of the greatest foods on planet earth.

Attended my friend’s Cheese Making Class

Right here in Whitmore, MI we have some of the best unpasteurized milk in Michigan. My friend Ruth was having a cheese making class past Saturday which I attended and learned about delicious ways to make cheese. It was a great learning experience and so much fun as well.

I got to meet several new people, most everyone was from out of town from various different places including Westland, Novi, Plymouth, Northville among other wonderful cities of Michigan.

Some were electrical engineers, accountants, brand new nurses and one gentleman was a limousine owner and did limo rental runs on the weekend as a hobby, while he worked at GM full time.

So as you can see very interesting group of people gathered and we had a blast learning about the ancient art of cheese making from raw milk. Our teacher, and my close friend Ruth was on top of it, citing different scientific texts and political texts that has to do with raw milk and how superior it is to store bought milk.

I had no idea that raw milk was illegal to sell in many states and there is control being put on this stuff. It was eye opening to see that you cannot buy raw milk in Michigan, you have to own a share of an animal and you are able to have your own raw milk from that animal but you technically cannot buy any raw milk.

What a truly upside down concept that is! Milk is the most fundamental thing for life and nurturing and it is banned! In a state even Marijuana is becoming legalized, it is a bit ridiculous to see that raw milk selling is banned.

Anyway the day was filled with learning and it was nice to have conversation with other health conscious people because I have passion in nutrition for a long time.

I got to meet some cool people like the limo owner from Rochester Hills, Apparently he has been running the limo business for over 25 years on the side and he put his kids through college that way, it was an inspirational story. And now he is learning about the power of raw milk because his wife was sick, so truly toughing man that you could tell had a great heart. He must do really good limo service and next time I need a limo in Oakland I’ll be sure to give him a call, if you are in the area I would highly recommend checking out his limo site.

Welcome, Nice to Meet you my name is Carroll..

Nice to meet you my name is Carroll and I love growing delicious fruits and vegetables in my garden and taking care of animals at the farm. I want to dedicate this blog to promoting the benefits of supporting your local farmers and the robust health and vitality you will experience as a result.

I have not always been a farm girl, in fact I was actually born in NYC in a big family of 8, I was the second youngest and I grew up always ill and coming down with various flue and allergies. You will not believe how sick I was as a kid and I was even lactose intolerant! Now I drink multiple quarts of raw milk everyday! And no problems! more on this later.

Today, I am healthy all year around and never get sick. I have a strong vital body that is full of muscle and immunity strength. I can out jog and out work most 20 year olds (10 years younger than me), and I know this because I do Tri-Athalon and I whip 20 years old butts!

Not because I’m genetically better by any means, remember I was a sick and frail child once. I became stronger after taking full responsibility for my health, researching a lot about health and finally committed to sourcing my own foods that will heal and rebuild my body.

My quest has led me to raw diary as the primary answer to re-establishing health and in my case, it was to reboot my system after it had been compromised as a child due to soy baby formula, wheat & grains among other things.

Follow my discussion of health, raw milk and other interesting stories about everyday life on the farm!
